Precision Cut

I fixed the paint machine today.
Like Scotty, with his arms deep
in the dilithium crystal tubes
there's always something that needs fixing
or at least adjusting.
It's now a year
since I decided
to do my bit
to help the world
by sharing
my unique view
of a hardware store.
Now I find myself standing in the same place
with the regulars
and the irregulars
paint cans, mops and screws
caulking
and the occasional banana skin.
